University of Waterloo students, including those at the Stratford campus, will soon have to keep their COVID-19 masks on while at school.
University officials announced on Tuesday that as of Wednesday masks will be required for all indoor academic activities for the rest of the term.
That includes lectures, seminars, teaching labs, tests, exams, and all other forms of academic instruction wherever it happens indoors.
Students may also be asked to wear a mask in other places, like when they meet with their teaching assistant or instructor.
Previously, masks were recommended to be worn but not mandatory.
A UOW official tells MyStratfordNow.com, “The change is being made now based on public health data: increases in COVID-19 hospitalization locally, and there are emerging trends from test positivity and wastewater that suggest increasing levels of COVID in the community, also considered were higher rates of seasonal flu and other viruses”
