Contract signed for cancer care renovations at Stratford General Hospital

“Having access to the highest quality cancer care close to home really makes a difference.”

That’s according to Ryan Itterman, Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance Director of Diagnostics, Regional Pharmacy, and Chemotherapy.

The contract for the over $10 million Chemotherapy and Pharmacy Renovation at Stratford General Hospital was officially signed during a ceremony on Thursday afternoon at SGH.

Itterman says it’s the “next step” on the journey to the new unit which will co-locate Chemotherapy and Pharmacy programs.

Officials say that will help ensure the efficient use of resources, specifically in sterile preparation locations and delivery of chemotherapy medications.

It will also include interior renovation of over 16,000 square feet of the third and fourth floor of the West Building and a new negative pressure room to provide care for high-risk patients.

It’s expected the unit will be ready for patients by the summer of 2024.
