The finishing touches are being put on the 2023 municipal budget in St.Marys.
St.Marys Director of Corporate Services Andre Morin says staff has completed their deliberations with council members over this year’s budget and have created it “as best as they can.”
The proposed budget carries roughly a 3.7 per cent increase to the tax levy which works out to an additional $130.00 in taxes for an average household.
The increase in the levy was around four per cent at one point but was lowered after the town received additional provincial infrastructure funding.
Morin says the public will now be asked their thoughts on the budget through a Coffee With Council event on February 4th followed by a public meeting in February.
If nothing changes, Morin expects the budget to be passed at a council meeting in early March.
