Update: Police identify victim of fatal collision in Monkton

UPDATE: 10:57 A.M. Tuesday

A 67-year-old Harriston man has been identified as the victim of a fatal collision in Monkton.

First responders were called out to the crash involving a transport truck and an SUV on Perth Line 55 just before 5 p.m. Monday.

Perth County OPP says Lawrence Hewitt was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.

UPDATE: 2:46 A.M. Tuesday

Perth County OPP says Perth Line 55 has now reopened between Road 154 and Road 155.

Police says one person was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision and their identity won’t be released until their family is notified.

An investigation into the crash continues.

Police are investigating a fatal collision in Monkton.

Perth County OPP tells the MyStratfordNow.com Newsroom that one person has been killed in a collision involving a transport truck and a sports utility vehicle.

It happened Monday night on Perth Line 55 at Road 155.

Perth Line 55 is currently closed between Road 154 and Road 155.

Updates are expected to be provided.
