Funding on the way to help ten businesses in downtown Stratford

Ten main street businesses in Stratford are getting a financial boost.

investStratford and the Downtown Stratford Business Improvement Area says each receipient will get $10,000 from My Main Street Local Business Accelerator Program.

The program is delivered by the Economic Developers Council of Ontario with an overall Government of Canada investment of $23.25 million.

The money is distributed through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, to support the recovery and strength of main streets and local businesses in southern Ontario.

Officials say it has helped new businesses such as Boutique Plus, Ande and El Cactus Taco Shop mitigate some of the burden of the intial costs of setting up a new business and connect with the plethora of business supports that exists in Stratford.

It’s also assisted existing businesses like Lovage, Poppin Kettle Corn, The Pulp, Chocolate Barrs, JENN and Larry’s ice cream shoppe and revel coffee inc. with considering innovative ways to either expand the products offered or introduce greater efficiency.

Each of these businesses offers something new to downtown Stratford, adding to the richness and vibrancy of community life.
