Stratford’s Grand Trunk Community Hub blueprint gets the green light

The wheels keep turning on the development of the Grand Trunk Community Hub in Stratford.

At their second 2023 budget meeting on Tuesday, Stratford City Council members voted to approve an action plan for the draft budget for the project’s development.

The proposed plan lays out the steps council wants to take with its partners to develop the project.

Partners include the University of Waterloo and the YMCA of Three Rivers.

The plan is broken down into seven stages to be taken as part of the process to build up the area including student housing for the university and community fundraising as well as anticipated timelines for each covering this year, next, and future years.

The cost of the items in the plan is $2.5 million which, if approved, will be taken from reserves and won’t impact the tax levy.

Council members also voted to create an ad hoc committee to support the repair of the shop building on the site.
