COVID-19 outbreak declared over at Seaforth Community Hospital

A COVID-19 outbreak at a local hospital has been declared over.

Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance officials say the outbreak in the Seaforth Community Hospital’s Inpatient Unit was first declared on January 28th.

Immediate precautions were implemented, according to the HPHA, which included prevalence testing for patients.

“While this outbreak is over, we can’t stress enough the importance of layering up your protection to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses that are circulating in Huron Perth,” says Erica Jensen, Manager Quality, Patient Safety & Infection Control, “Keep up-to-date with your vaccines/boosters, wear a mask when in indoor public spaces, wash your hands often and stay home if you are feeling sick.”

The unit has now reopened to admissions and transfers with families and caregivers allowed to visit.
