Stratford Police searching for suspect after store owner assaulted

Police are searching for a suspect after an assault outside a Stratford convenience store.

Stratford Police says officers were called out to Stratford Variety, on Downie Street, shortly after 9 o’clock last Friday night.

Paramedics were at the scene attending to a male who had been found laying in the parking lot with head injuries.

The victim was identified as the owner of the store and he was transported to the hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Video surveillance of the incident showed that the victim had approached an unknown male whom he found urinating in the parking lot.

The victim and the unknown male became involved in an argument, which escalated to the unknown male assaulting the victim before fleeing the area in his vehicle.

He was last seen driving east on Brydges Street from the parking lot in a 2-door Black Honda Accord with tinted windows and custom gold rims.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call the police or Crime Stoppers.
