UPDATE: Health unit locates dog that scratched child in Mitchell

UPDATE: 4:40 P.M. Friday

Huron Perth Public Health officials say the dog involved in the incident has been located.

They are thanking the public for contacting them with follow-up currently taking place.

The search is on for a dog that officials say scratched a child in Mitchell.

According to Huron Perth Public Health, it happened at the dog park on Wellington Street around 5:30 Tuesday afternoon.

The animal is described as a purebred Bernese Mountain dog, black, white, and brown in colour, and not yet fully grown.

It was being walked by a female who said that she was taking care of the dog for a sibling.

HPPH is investigating to make sure the dog is up-to-date on its rabies vaccination.

Anyone with information is asked to call HPPH.
