Downtown roads to be closed for Remembrance Day parade

Temporary road closures will be in place in Stratford’s downtown for two upcoming parades.

At their regular meeting on Tuesday night, council heard a presentation from the Kinsmen Club of Stratford asking for a reversal on a decision to keep parades away from three connecting roads, Ontario, Huron, and Erie Streets.

The move led to the Kinsmen Club canceling its Canada Day Parade.

Council voted Tuesday night to briefly close the Ontario Street and Erie Street intersection for the Remembrance Day parade.

The Santa Claus Parade will also be permitted on its traditional downtown route, including Ontario Street as an option, subject to approval from the Ministry of Transportation Ontario.

Other parades will still only be allowed on local roads.
