Perth-Wellington MP helping officially recognize Food Day in Canada

Our local MP is helping make Food Day in Canada a reality.

Perth-Wellington MP John Nater sponsored a bill in the House of Commons that passed its third and final stage of debate on Monday.

It establishes August 5th as a day of celebration by the Parliament of Canada for the country’s farmers and fishers, chefs and food researchers as well as everyone who contributes to agriculture, food, and cuisine.

Nater says it recognizes everyone along the food supply chain who not only feeds us but also enriches our diverse national culture.

The day will officially become recognized as soon as it receives Royal Assent from Governor General Mary Simon.
