Happening Now: OPP officer, school bus driver killed in two-vehicle collision near Woodstock

UPDATE: 2:46 P.M. Monday

Two people, including a 35-year-old Perth County OPP officer, are dead after a collision involving a school bus in East-Zorra Tavistock Township.

West Region OPP says the crash happened around 7 o’clock Monday morning at the intersection of Highway 59 and Oxford County Road 33, northwest of Woodstock.

Police say an unmarked OPP vehicle and a school bus collided at the intersection and both drivers were killed, there were no passengers in either vehicle.

The officer has been identified as Detective Constable Steven Tourangeau who was with the Huron Perth Community Street Crime Unit.

OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique said “We are deeply saddened over this tragic incident, as two families mourn the loss of their loved ones. I offer my deepest condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues affected.”

The name of the school bus driver has not been released.

Huron County OPP says they are investigating a two-vehicle collision that happened around 7 o’clock Monday morning at the intersection of Highway 59 and Oxford County Road 33.

Police say both drivers died from their injuries.

Police are at the scene of a fatal collision in East Zorra-Tavistock Township.

Huron County OPP says it’s on Highway 59 at Oxford Road 33, just north of Woodstock.

No other details have been provided.

You’re asked to avoid the area and obey the road closure signs.

Traffic is being rerouted at Oxford Road 17 and Braemar Sideroad.
