Police warning credit union employees to be vigilant

Police are warning credit unions in our region to take safety and security precautions.

OPP West Region Crime Units are investigating two recent credit union robberies in rural locations: the first in Arkona in early April and the most recent in Grey Highlands.

The suspects in both incidents used similar methods to commit the robberies but details are being withheld, as the crimes remain ongoing investigations.

Employees at financial institutions are reminded not to touch any objects or surfaces that the suspect may have come in contact with in order to preserve evidence such as fingerprints, DNA, or footwear.

They are also urged to keep a close watch out for any suspect identifiers such as behavior, odors, or clothing brands.
