Volunteers being sought to help plant shrubs along Avon River

You’re being invited to help plant shrubs along the Avon River.

The Stratford and Area Master Gardeners will be planting the shrubs Saturday morning at McLagan Park starting at 9:30 as part of the ReLeaf Stratford Project.

Last fall, around 40 community volunteers planted 400 shrubs along the bank of the river which help support high numbers of wildlife species while also providing water quality protection.

Native trees and shrubs also provide important biomass and biodiversity to create pollinator pathways

Funding for the purchase of native shrubs is made possible with a grant of $5,200 from the Donald McTavish Conservation Fund held within the Stratford Perth Community Foundation.
