Downtown Stratford BIA releases public art plan

A new plan is aimed at supporting the growth of public art in Stratford’s downtown core.

The Downtown Stratford Business Improvement Area commissioned the plan last year and hired a consulting firm to come up with the blueprint that reflects the history of the city while laying out how art like murals on buildings should be handled.

Downtown Stratford BIA General Manager Jamie Pritchard says they began talking with other partners last June.

“We wanted to make sure that we were getting lots of engagement of over 500 stakeholders including art organizations, artists, members of the public looking at different opportunities and challenges.”

The plan has now been adopted by the BIA and will be brought to the Stratford City Council meeting on Monday with a request that it be approved for future projects
