On Monday, July 10th the Stratford Police Service (SPS) was called to a theft at a construction site on OJ Gaffney and Dempsey Drives.  Equipment including a display screen was taken out of an excavator as well as a bulldozer.  The stolen property is estimated to be worth $4,000.  It is suspected the theft happened somewhere between 9:30 am on July 9th to 6:30 am on July 10th. Also on Monday, SPS received a report of a stolen motorcycle from a business on Lorne Avenue East.  The motorcycle had been taken sometime overnight July 9th and 10th.  Shortly before 6:00 pm on July 12th the motorcycle was spotted in plain view at a property on Downie Street.  Officers went to the address and saw a man known to them in possession of the motorbike.  A search of the VIN number confirmed it was the stolen bike.  A 38-year-old faces a charge of Possession of Stolen Property Obtained by Crime and has a court date in August.

On Thursday, just before 8:00 am police were called to a smashed window at the Matilda Swanson Art Gallery on Downie Street.  Police say a lead pipe had been thrown through a window sometime during the night.  There are no suspects at this time and police are asking anyone in the area with video surveillance to review the footage and call them if anything suspicious is noticed.  Anyone with any information about this incident is urged to call 519-271-4141, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.p3tips.com.
