Milt Dunnell Field plans approved by St. Marys Council

Short- and long-term plans for Milt Dunnell Field in St. Marys have been decided on by town council.  The decisions were made after councillors reviewed public input from over 1,300 residents.

Staff has been asked to look at immediate plans to improve park washrooms, paving for the Farmer’s Market, accessible playground equipment and dock, repairs to the lawn bowling pitch, additional trees, and enhanced conservation efforts.  These improvements will be paid for by grant funding that expires in 2024 and will begin in the fall.

In the long-term staff will focus on design plans for the park including retaining ring road and include shoreline erosion protection, pedestrian walkways and trails, an enhanced event space, an increased tree canopy, enhanced lighting, additional seating, picnic, and river viewing areas, and an upgraded pavilion.  The master plan for the future of the park will be presented to the public for feedback before work begins.
