Stratford Police Service Briefs

Stratford Police Service is searching for a suspect in a copper wire theft. On Monday, July 17th officers were called to an industrial business at the south end of Erie Street.  When they got there, they found a fenced off area broken into and two transformers and an electrical box stripped of copper wire.  While investigating officers learned a driver that went to the business had seen a suspicious person leaving the area on a bicycle between 10:30 and 11:00 in the morning.  The person is described as a Caucasian male, wearing all black, and carrying a Home Depot bucket.  No further information is known at this time.  Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact the Stratford Police Service at 519-271- 4141, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.p3tips.com.

On Tuesday, July 18th just before 3:00 am Stratford Police was called to a home on Princess Street.  An unknown individual had shot holes through the front window of the home.  Police believe they were made with a pellet or BB gun.  Officers were not able to find a suspect but did find video surveillance of a possible suspect in a neighbouring yard.  He is described as a Caucasian man with a slime build, wearing a black balaclava, light coloured jacket, pants, black running shoes, carrying what appears to be a black handgun in his left hand.  His identity is not known.  The Stratford Police Service is asking for anyone with information to please contact them at 519-271-4141, or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-222-TIPS or www.p3tips.com.

Also on Tuesday, July 18, shortly before 3:00 p.m. the Stratford Police Service received a report of extensive damage that had been caused to a vehicle overnight. The 1993 Cadillac Fleetwood Broughman had been parked in the Stratford Intermediate School parking lot, off of Worsley Street. It is unknown when the damage was caused, but it is believed to have happened during the overnight hours between July 17th to July 18th.  The vehicle had its windshield smashed, three tires slashed, and both side mirrors ripped from the vehicle.
