Provincial funding on the way to local police forces for video surveillance programs

Stratford Police and West Perth OPP are each receiving $200,000 in provincial funding to expand their video surveillance programs.

Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae says the money is being delivered through the Ontario Closed Circuit Television Grant Program.

It can be used to replace outdated equipment, expand or enhance current technology, and install new or additional CCTV surveillance cameras in areas where gun and gang violence, illegal drug activity, and human trafficking are prevalent.

Rae says the funding will help them investigate criminal activity and ensure our families and property are kept safe.
