School board reacts to assault at Stratford high school

Local school board officials say they are aware of the violent incident at a Stratford high school that left one student with minor injuries.

Stratford Police say they received a report of the assault at Stratford District Secondary School on Monday afternoon when a 13-year-old and a 14-year-old attacked a 15-year-old in a school hallway.

The 14-year-old was found and charged with assault while the search continues for the 13-year-old.

In a statement, Avon Maitland District School Board officials say they are assisting police where possible with their investigation and following their own safe schools’ investigative procedures in order to determine next steps.

They add they are focused on ensuring the students who were involved are provided with the appropriate support and assistance.
