Stratford Warriors ready to open 2023-24 season

The Stratford Warriors are ready to defend the Cherrey Cup championship.

After claiming the Midwestern Conference title last season and going to Game 7 in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League Sutherland Cup championship series with the Leamington Flyers, Stratford begins the 2023-24 season at home Friday night against the Listowel Cyclones.

There are eight players returning from the championship squad and Director of Hockey Operations Jason Clarke says he thinks this year’s team will be young and fast.

He says there’s nothing like being part of a storied team like the Warriors.

“There is no better place, you can’t convince me that there is especially in our league with the support that we get and the building we get to play in, it’s a fantastic place to run a hockey club and an even better spot to play.”

It’s a busy opening weekend for the Warriors as, after Friday night’s game, they travel to Listowel on Saturday night.
