Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance begins amalgamation process

The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance has started the process of amalgamating its four corporations.

HPHA officials say the work began earlier this month in order to come in line with provincial legislation and other laws by October 2024.

HPHA President Andrew Williams says staff, programs, and care won’t be impacted at all with the alliance’s four hospitals having operated as an integrated organization since its inception in 2003.

He says the four hospital’s foundations will also remain independent.

“We want those very important partners to be raising money for their own sites, for the priorities that they see, and not a penny gets spent by the foundations that is not approved by their board of directors.”

The organization is targeting April 1, 2024, as the effective date of the amalgamation to align with its fiscal year.
