Changes are on the horizon for the public school system in the Stratford area.
With two of its schools, Avon Public School, and Bedford Public School, significantly over capacity for students, the Avon Maitland District School Board is starting the consultation process for its boundaries, the geographical area each school draws its students from with the plan to move some students to school that have more space.
The Board is looking for volunteers for the committee with meetings starting in October. Public feedback will be gathered in January. The board hopes to decide next May at the earliest.
AMDSB Superintendent of Corporate Services and Treasurer Cheri Carter says she expects there will be a transition year before any changes come into effect.
“We let people know this is what’s happening for you in September 2025 and this is how we’re going to proceed.”
