Community comes through to help injured one-year-old dog

It’s a good news story when it comes to an urgent appeal campaign launched by the Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo and Stratford Perth.

It was initiated on Monday after humane society staff said one-year-old dog Sylvia was found by a community member with a deep cut on her paw and a dislocated hip.

Director of Community Engagement and Outreach with the humane society, Calla James, says they hoped to raise up to $5,500 to help with her surgery and care.

She says the community came through in a big way.

“Our grand total appeal was just over $7,000 now.”

Sylvia underwent surgery on Monday to replace her hip and help her get better.

More information on Sylvia can be found on the humane society’s website.
