Perth-Wellington MP gives new federal budget a failing grade

Perth-Wellington’s MP says the just-released federal budget is a desperate attempt by the Liberal government to change the channel.
John Nater says the budget released on Tuesday shows the Liberals don’t have a handle on government spending or on what the needs of Canadians are.
The budget includes money for new housing, a national school lunch program, and expanded child care but no increase in taxes on the middle class.
However, Nater says not enough is being done to help Canadians afford the rising cost of life.
“In the last eight-and-a-half years we’ve seen the amount for a down payment skyrocket, more than double, we’ve seen the cost of mortgages double in the last eight-and-a-half years and the solutions that the government is providing are simply not working.”
Nater says his party won’t be supporting the budget and adds they would be ready to head to the polls if an election was called today.
