The City of Stratford has approved a significant investment to expand its human resources (HR) department to better support its workforce and achieve strategic priorities.

HR Director Dave Bush said the department will add three new roles: Wellness, Health & Safety Coordinator; Organizational Development Coordinator; and Human Resources Assistant.

Salaries range from $79,000 to $85,000 for the new positions.

Bush said there has been a high level of turnover at the city for a variety of reasons.

Bush said there isn’t particular reason for that figure, noting people get promoted, people transfer into different roles, and some just leave.

“Part of that attraction and retention is being competitive: wages, vacation benefits, flexible work time, flexible workplace, creating succession planning, tuition assistance, leadership development,” he told MyStratfordNow.

Recruitment for new roles will occur through July and August, with a targeted start date on the first day of September.
