August laughs: Friday night improv series coming up at Brch and Wyn

Brch and Wyn is the venue for a new Friday night improv series.

Veteran actors Kevin Kruchkywich, Rebecca Northan and Bruce Horak are gearing up for the comedy series, which gets underway this week.

Audiences can expect two of three to perform an improv set for about an hour.

Northan joked the actors just don’t get along when they are all together.

Similar to most improv, there is not set itinerary for the talent.

“We have agreed as a trio that we will not discuss in advance what we are going to do,” said Northan. “So we will actually have zero plans.”

Guests will play a part in the content, however, Kruchkywich pointed out.

“We will interact with the audience. We will see where everybody is at and we will just start improvising.”

That could include a long-form show for the entire hour or games along way.

Kruchkywich and Northan started working together in the late 1990’s, and he has  classical theatre experience at the Stratford Festival. Northan developed the  Goblin:Macbeth performance at last year’s Stratford Festival.

Horak stars as engineer Hemmer in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Performances start at 8 p.m. and there is a $20 cash fee at the door.
