It won’t be long now until the ‘Biggest little fair in Ontario’

From the “majestic thunder” of the heavy horses to “spell-binding” magic tricks, there is something for everyone at the Mitchell Fall Fair.

The 170th edition starts on August 30 and runs until Sept. 1.

Winnie Linton from the Mitchell and District Agricultural Society, says the original fair started as a gathering spot for exhibitors and for various competitions.

That continues, with some modern day attractions mixed in.

Guests can check out a unicycle demo throughout the weekend, a top shot hockey style game to test skills and drills or classic championship wrestling.

“And you don’t want to miss a toss or a slam to the mat once these guys get going.”

Magic Mel will be around for some spell binding magic tricks and her partner Ben takes care of the fun foam show with a bubble cannon – always popular with the younger crowd.

Music will include County Lads from Ottawa, a Country Celtic Band.

Linton said the fair should be fun for everyone.

Organizers are still looking for volunteers to help out.
