Market Square was pulsing for CJCS Centennial celebration

Under perfect blue skies at Market Square in downtown Stratford, CJCS celebrated their 100th anniversary with hundreds of others during a fun-filled Saturday.

Morning show host Jamie Cottle welcomed the crowds to the public space behind city hall. A number of special guests stopped in for well wishes, including legendary journalist Lloyd Robertson, a Stratford native and a former employee of the local radio station.

Dave Elliott, marketing executive for CJCS FM 107.1 & 2day FM 107.7, said a lot of planning and hard work went into preparing for the CJCS Centennial Family Party.

“We wanted to do something special. A radio station doesn’t exist for 100 years without its listeners, so we really wanted do something for the community to give back and say thank-you.”

Guests were treated to live music from Hannah Thomas, Steve Rae and Dayna Manning.

There were large crowds for the Ultimutts Animal Actors Show, with the dogs appearing to steal a few hearts with their tricks.

The Cirquesmith Aerial Arts Show also dazzled with some talented artists getting some raves from the crowds for their routines.

The event was held in partnership with the Stratford Festival.

“Everything was very well received and…the Stratford Festival helped us every step of the way.”

Elliott said it was great to see former employees at the celebration including Robertson, now age 90, a former CTV national news anchor, who worked at the radio station in the 1950’s.
