Those big yellow buses are back on the road.
School started for most students Wednesday in Stratford and area, and a lot of students are getting to and from school via school bus.
Darren Fischer, Community Resource and Media Relations Officer with Stratford Police Service, says residents need to again be mindful about school buses.
“It’s always important to discuss school bus safety and make sure people are aware of what their responsibilities are.”
Stratford police have a number of helpful videos on their Facebook page that discuss aspects of student safety, including reminders about bus lights and stop signs.
Fischer says whether it’s a two or four lane road, you must come to a stop.
It’s particularly important when students sometimes have to cross a road.
If you witness someone failing to stop for a school bus, all Stratford police need is a license plate number, he said.
Fischer said you should also be aware of increased pedestrians and traffic around the city.
“Make sure you are slowing down, give yourself extra time and be aware of your surroundings. “
