It’s an important conversation surrounding local mental health and support services.
A panel discussion entitled Mental Health and Addictions: Services and Stories, will be held on Oct. 23 at Avondale United Church.
Local organizations participating include the CMHA, Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance and the Huron-Perth Centre for Children and Youth.
The panel will include a range of local professionals offering services for mental health and addictions as well as homelessness service providers.
Aleah Graff, Community Engagement Coordinator at Avondale United Church, said its important to have conversations.
“We think its very important to be having these conversations, because there’s a lot that encompasses mental health and there’s a lot of people affected by mental health, so if we can be part of the social change that’s something we would definitely want to do,” said Graff.
Dana Bozzato, CEO with Huron-Perth Centre for Children and Youth, highlighted the need to look at local trends and gaps within the mental health services sector, as well as gaining local partnerships in the community.
“When you pull a community together and host a conversation like this, inevitably other organizations come into the conversation as well,” said Bozzato.
