Still time to soak up the fall at Wildwood Conservation Area

There’s still plenty of time to soak up the last bits of the warm weather and fall colours at Wildwood Conservation Area, as its season has been extended another six weeks.

Emily Chandler from Upper Thames River Conservation Authority explained that after a summer full of fun events, with great turnout and feedback, they wanted to keep the good times rolling and offer another extended fall season, as it was so well received last year.

“Last year was kind of the pilot for this, and like we said its so well-received we’re looking forwarding to doing it again,” said Chandler.

For the extended season, staff will be on site and washrooms will be made available.

It begins Oct. 20 and will run until Nov. 30.

The conservation area is a great place to take a fall stroll, bike around the lake, or enjoy a picnic.

They also have activities happening at the area, such as a guided story hike and chickadees that eat sunflower seeds out of visitors hands.

“Once you’re there it kinda feels like you’re in a whole other location, and you get to enjoy it as much as you like,” explained Chandler.

The conservation area is open Monday-Thursday (8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.) and Friday-Sunday (7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.). A vehicle day pass is $10, while people on foot or bicycle are $5.
