Snow squall for Stratford and area ends mid-afternoon

UPDATE:

The snow squall warning is over.

Snow Squall Warning in effect for:

  • Stratford – Mitchell – Southern Perth County

Lake effect snow squalls continue this morning.

Hazards: Locally heavy snowfall with additional accumulations of 5 to 10 cm. Peak snowfall rates of 3 to 5 cm per hour. Reduced visibility at times in heavy snow and local blowing snow.

Timing: This morning.

Discussion: Heavy lake effect snow squalls off Lake Huron will continue this morning. Snow squalls will shift northward through the morning easing to flurries this afternoon.

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common.

Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations.

Road closures are possible. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
