Express solidarity with fellow Canadians this Saturday in Stratford.
The Citizens’ Rally for Canada will be held in market square by the local grassroots organization Wise Communities, as part of its new initiative Canadians Stand Together: Our True North Strong and Free.
The rally will be held to “demonstrate solidarity of purpose at this pivotal moment in time”, specifically in regards to U.S. President Donald Trump’s 30-day tariff reprieve ending.
Speakers at the event include Stratford’s Deputy Mayor Harjinder Nijjar, Stratford & District Chamber of Commerce General Manager Aaron Martin and Rev. Mark Wolfe from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.
Loreena McKennitt, founder of Wise Communities, will also speak at the event and explains that the organization want the rally to be a positive event.
“This is to be educational, it’s to be building solidarity, to be inspirational.”
Participants are encouraged to wear red and white or to bring a patriotic sign.
The rally starts at noon and will conclude with award-winning artists Ron Sexsmith, Dayna Manning and McKennitt singing O Canada.
