A ‘platform for young artists to share creativity with the community’

The City of Stratford is partnering with Kind-heARTed Studio to host a unique event for the community to celebrate local artistic talent.

Art in the Barn: Huron Perth Youth Art Show aims to provide a “platform for young artists to share their creativity with the community while fostering a sense of pride and accomplishment.”

The show is open to children, teens and young adults in Huron and Perth counties.

Stratford Mayor Martin Ritsma says a conversation he has frequently with young artists in the community is that there isn’t a venue or event to publicly display their artwork.

He plans on remedying that with this event and explains that all are welcome to submit art for consideration.

“This is open to all artists, all types of art, artists from the age of 6 to 23, whether you’re a sculptor, whether you’re a painter, a drawer, whether you create jewelry, you are welcome to submit your art.”

Each participant may submit three artworks.

There is no fee to showcase your work and any artistic medium is accepted.

The event hopes to inspire and support the next generation of artists in the region by showcasing their budding talents in a public exhibition.

Deadline for submissions is March 25.

The first annual Art in the Barn event will take place June 7 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m at Ritsma’s barn on Kellys Lane in Stratford.
