Affordable, native trees through local conservation authority

You can help the environment this spring by planting a native tree.

The popular Festival Hydro Tree Power program returns for its fifth year, offering Stratford residents a chance to purchase native trees at an affordable price.

In partnership with the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority, there will be eight different species available for purchase including American Sycamore, Black Cherry, Norway Spruce and more.

Emily Chandler, Communications and Marketing Specialist for the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority, said it’s an environmentally-friendly initiative.

Trees range in price from $25 to $30 each.

“It’s a really easy way for people to not only increase the beauty on their property but to help the environment,” said Chandler.

This year, residents can chose to have their tree planted on City of Stratford property instead of their own yard.

Tree pick-up is April 26 from 8-10 a.m. at Stratford Dog Park parking lot.

You can purchase your tree at shop.thamesriver.on.ca.
