Stratford police will never call you asking for money or personal information.
That reminder was sent out Wednesday, after local police received more than 40 reports of a scam attempt.
Complainants received a phone call from a number identifying it to be Stratford police.
Scammers attempted a variety of methods to defraud people of their money and/or information, including advising people they had warrants for their arrest and requesting money to support crime prevention initiatives.
Police are not aware of any loss of information or money but encourage anyone who did to call 519-271-4141 ext. 2 to file a report.
Police said at no time will you receive a phone call of this nature from police, or any other government agency.
