North Perth OPP receives more than $12.5K for video surveillance systems

On Friday (April 25), Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae announced that the OPP North Perth detachment will be receiving more than $12,500 in funding to expand its video surveillance systems.

Funding is delivered through the Ontario Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Grant Program, to replace outdated equipment, expand or enhance current ones or install new CCTV surveillance cameras in areas with prevalent crime.

Rae says “our law enforcement officers’ work day and night to ensure our rural communities are safe” and the “provincial government will be there to provide them with the resources and tools they need to continue to protect Ontario.”

The CCTV Grant program is part of Ontario’s Guns, Gangs and Violence Reduction Strategy which launched in 2020.

This funding is part of one of 14 projects across Ontario, for a total investment of $2 million for 2024-2025.
