Walk for Alzheimer’s Saturday at Upper Queen’s Park

There is still time to get involved and plenty of locations to take part in the Walk for Alzheimer’s on Saturday.

Manager Fund Development, Communications & Volunteers at Alzheimer Society Huron Perth, Erin Dale, said the Stratford walk starts at 10 a.m. at Upper Queens Park but there are a bunch more walks in the counties.

“There are walks happening all across Canada this weekend actually. But in Huron-Perth specifically there are seven locations.”

You can sign up at walkforalzheimers.ca and pick one of the other Huron/Perth locations, including St. Marys, Listowel, Clinton, Exeter, Goderich and Wingham.

The annual event is Canada’s largest fundraiser of the year Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias and takes place in more than 150 communities nationwide.

“Or if you are not able to able to participate yourself, you are more than welcome to make a donation to someone you know or to one of the teams.”

Funds raised locally stay in the area, and the Huron-Perth goal this year is $130,000.
