Beat the heat: Cooling centres activated in Stratford

If you’re looking to beat the heat, the city has some cooling centres for you to go to.

On social media earlier today, the City of Stratford announced it is opening a cooling centre today and Tuesday at the Stratford Rotary Complex at 353 McCarthy Road West.

This space would help residents cool off from the high temperatures in the forecast for the area, with Environment Canada showing a high of 30 degrees (humidex of 38) for Monday, while Tuesday sees a high of 30 degrees, and a humidex of 40.

The city says the Rotary space is air conditioned, has washrooms on site and water is available.

The centre is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. both days.

Other cooling centres you can use are the Public Library at 19 Street Andrew Street during their regular hours, and the Anne Hathaway Park splash pad near the corner of Downie and Bruce streets any day from 9-9.

As of 2:30 p.m., no heat warning has been issued for Stratford by Environment Canada.
