Man charged after break-in at Listowel grocery store

A North Perth man has been charged after he was found inside Food Basics in Listowel.

The OPP says an employee found the man in the rear storage section of the store just before 5:30 this morning.

The man left as the employee called police.

Officers found a man matching a description of the suspect within minutes on Wallace Avenue North trying to hide behind a snowbank.

They were able to follow the man’s footprints back to the store.

The 51-year-old faces four charges including “break, enter, and theft” and “possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000”.

He’s scheduled to appear in Listowel Court on March 19th to answer to the charges.
