‘Beet the System’ Wednesday night at LCFC

Jordan Lassaline has been cooking up healthy meals and teaching others how to do the same for over a year now.

He’s the head chef at the Local Community Food Centre on Erie Street in Stratford.

Lassaline is now turning his attention to building a more just, equitable, sustainable and nourishing food system in our community.

He has organized a ‘Beet the System’ meeting for tomorrow night at the food centre where alternative models of growing and distributing food will be discussed.

Lassaline says he’s heard many great ideas from the public over the last year.

It’s time to make them happen.

He says the current food system is skewed towards junk food that’s unbalanced and high in sugar making it cheaper for consumers yet fresh produce is too expensive.

The Food Justice Club meeting will begin at 7:00pm tomorrow night.

Everyone’s invited to bring their ideas about urban farming, community gardening and anything else that will help make fresh, wholesome foods available to more families in Perth County.
