The Stratford Fire Department is urging everyone to get the proper number of working smoke alarms.
This comes after a fatal Valentine’s Day fire in Brampton. An investigation showed that there were no smoke alarms in that home.
You should have working smoke alarms on every storey of your home and outside all sleeping areas, as well as a practiced home fire escape plan. If you rent it’s up to your landlord to make sure you have the proper number of working alarms.
Chief John Paradis says early detection of a fire in your home is crucial to your survival.
