The OPP is letting the public know about a phishing scam. This comes after it caught a victim in North Perth.
The OPP says an employee at an undisclosed business got an email that seemed to be from the owner of the business. It asked the employee to electronically transfer a large amount of money. It wasn’t until talking with the owner, after the money was sent, that it was realized that this was a scam.
The OPP is warning residents to double check who they’re getting emails from, since fraudsters create addresses that mimic real ones, before replying.
