Choose water instead

March is Nutrition Month. With that in mind the Perth District Health Unit is encouraging people to drink more water and less sugary drinks.

The PDHU says it’s taken the Water Does Wonders pledge to show its commitment to not selling, providing, or promoting sugary drinks. The PDHU says things like soda, sports and fruit drinks have a lot of added sugar and no health benefits.

Too much sugar increases the risk of developing heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, dental issues and some types of cancer. The PDHU is encouraging families and organizations to take the Water Does Wonders pledge as well.
