Some good has come to an area veteran thanks to the help of a Woodstock Police officer.
On Valentine’s Day someone broke into 77-year-old John Wettlaufer’s apartment. The suspect stole several medals and pins from the aircraftsman 1st class veteran.
Since the theft Constable Kevin DeClark, himself a Corporal of the Canadian armed forces, organized a community effort to get them replaced.
The efforts paid off. Wettlaufer was presented Friday with a special plaque with a commemorative plate and some of the missing pins and medals.
