Group presenting plan for Stratford detox centre to LHIN this week

A local group is trying to get a detox centre set up in Stratford.

The Community Withdrawal Management Project has done about two years of research so far. On Thursday they’ll be presenting a business plan to the South West LHIN in an attempt to secure funding.

Jim Scott is one of the organizers of the project. He says it would fill a void in our area:

Scott adds a detox centre is a vital step in the recovery process for addicts:

If all goes according to plan the facility, which Scott says has garnered a lot of support including from Stratford General Hospital and Choices for Change, could be open by next year.

In the meantime the Community Withdrawal Management Project is looking for volunteers. You can call Jim Scott at 519-301-2439 or email Mike Odbert at michaelodbert@gmail.com if you’re interested.
