People living in and around Stratford have a medium risk of dying of a heart attack.
That’s the result of a recent study published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal. It was done by the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences and the Sunnybrook Schulich Heart Centre.
The study looked at things like obesity rates, socio-economic status, ethnic variations and access to doctors and preventative health care. The Southwest LHIN region had a rate of 3.9 to 4.7 major cardiovascular events, such as a heart attack, per 1000 people.
The LHINs with the lowest rates were in Toronto and the highest were in Northern Ontario and the very southern tip of the province.
