Local breaking ground on commemorative garden today

The Local Community Food Centre is breaking ground on its Canada 150 Commemorative Community Garden and Edible Forest today.

The project was approved last week by Stratford City Council. It’s going in Dufferin Park.

A garden is going to be built that will be split into a number of plots for people to use and maintain. Berry and nut bushes and trees will be planted for the edible forest part.

The Local says clean-up of the park and construction will begin this weekend to coincide with Earth Day. Today’s ground breaking is happening at 2:00pm.
