UPDATED: Live Stock Lost in Large Perth South Barn Fire

UPDATE:

The Perth County OPP and St. Marys Fire Department says as many as 1,800 pigs have been killed in a large barn fire in Perth South.

Mutual aid was called in from Sebringville and Mitchell to help battle the blaze which broke out shortly before 6:00am.

The Perth East and West Perth Fire Department says no humans have been reported hurt.

Fire departments are still working in the area to investigate the cause.

Perth Line 16 between Highway 7 and Perth Road 122 has since been reopened.

 

 

The Perth County OPP has closed off Perth Line 16 from Highway 7 to Perth Road 122 in response to a barn fire.

Perth East and West Perth’s Fire Chief William Hunter says the fire broke out early this morning shortly before 6:00.

St. Marys Fire Department called in mutual aid to help battle the blaze from Mitchell and Sebringville.

The fire department says there were as many as 1800 livestock inside the barn at the time of the blaze.

Police say the area is expected to be closed off for most of the day today as crews continue to investigate.

No word yet on if anyone has been hurt.
